CHRIST AND HIS BRIDE ~ TYPOLOGIES IN RUTH

Session 5

THE TYPOLOGIES

"I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets." (Hosea 12:10)

One has to be careful when interpreting Scripture! To say that a passage or book has meaning, other than the direct literal interpretation, opens a door to the misconception that the Bible does not mean what it says. It must be clearly understood that any attempt to show similitudes is not an implication that the events described in Ruth did not happen. The Book of Ruth is a real chronology of events that happened to real people, and any similitudes must be understood as God's ability to use these people and events to give us a message for the here and now. Unless Scripture itself tells us that a passage or Book should be seen as a "type," the interpreter is clearly out on a limb, which can easily be sawed off. As the Boreans did, check the following out for yourself. (Acts 17:11)

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

(Rom 15:4)

Read each of the Bible references and discuss the typology.
